"this is old music. I made these beats before I had to leave and go back to the mountain last year. Most of the raps got written then too. 5_6 got written after I came back. But it was music from an odd time. When I was just starting to transition out of a longish stint without a home I started the earlier tracks. I got a job as a driver with a cannabis delivery service which ended my unemployment, and things were looking up. 3 weeks later as I was looking for an apartment we were shut down by the DEA.

I decided rather than sit around and wait to see how things would unfold, and be mired in conflict trying to find another job I'd head back out to work the harvest. After I came back in December I recorded these songs. At this point I've grown incredibly distant from them. I can still relate to them, but I'm not in those moments. That's why they're kinda haphazardly mixed, and they're unmastered. But beyond the basic utility, these songs definitely still resonate for me. I made them at a time when I was starting to come out of a very dark time. Of course there is never an end to negative experiences in life, but this small collection of songs captures an odd time when things begin to look up, then come crashing back down worse than they were, only to be followed by much better times. The "followed by much better times" comes after this record, but I think the conviction comes through. And I hope the optimism is there too because even as it seemed like nothing was gonna work out for me, I still believed otherwise.

The universe has a strange way of guiding you when you really let go of everything. Call it fate, call it god, call it whatever you want. This is one small document of someone caught in the midst of something they don't understand, and attempting to make sense of it.
