ERRLIRL 23_3. I wanted to have a beat that used a sample that I couldn't get in trouble for. But I wound up opting for an album with no music samples--aside from me sampling myself. I love the sample that opens this, it's from a youtube video. It's a rapper who was being harassed on youtube, he told someone to stop or else there would be consequences, and the dude didn't stop. The rapper who hunted dude down is a big ripped fellow, and the dude in question didn't even come out, he sent his girlfriend out to ask the ripped rapper to leave.
In the end the rapper smashes the windows of dude's car. I love this video because it is a mythic depiction of what I deal with as a creative person putting myself, and my material out there on the internet. When I perform live always get a lot of love, and most people enjoy what I do. Of course I've encountered people along the way--especially other battle rappers early on--who were vocal about their distaste for my work. But ultimately, the things that people say online never get said in real life. I love that this rapper showed the weak youtube commenter guy what's really up.
